Erosion is a major cause of land loss in our British coastal regions. In the North Yorkshire area, a concrete block buttress wall was cast in situ by a picturesque harbour village to help prevent the land from disappearing into the sea.

As part of the planning consent, plain concrete was not acceptable. The finished colour had to emulate the natural local stone, be permanent, maintenance free and inert to sunlight and salt water.

HATCRETE Tekstain in Stone Beige was used as an inexpensive option to colour over 3000 square metres of near vertical concrete walls. The stain was simply sprayed onto the concrete walls then left for an hour for the colour to develop.  The variegated colour produced by the stain helped to blend the new concrete with the surrounding environment.
