You are in: Information | The Plasterboard Recycling Process
The Process
Our plant has been designed to recycle 100% of the plasterboard waste which is fed in. The primary aim of the plant is to process the waste plasterboard and remove all contaminants including the paper backing. Once recycled the end gypsum product has less than 0.5% paper content. This product has consistently shown itself to be an excellent substitute for raw mined gypsum in numerous applications.
Quality
Quality control is paramount throughout , indeed we operate to BS EN ISO9001:2000 (cert no: FM 27153). We manufacture products from waste that meet strict criteria and show numerous benefits to end users. We manufacture gypsum material to PAS109 specification.
Gypsum
The gypsum product we make as part of our recycling and manufacturing process is engineered to be suitable for particular applications. Recycled gypsum is used within our own concrete admixture manufacturing process. As well as using recycled gypsum ourselves we have developed many markets for our end products. Using a unique patented process recycled gypsum is used as a primary ingredient in the manufacture of moisture / liquid absorbents and also for the manufacture of interior wall blocks. we can also supply material back to the manufacturers for board manufacture, cement works and others. Numerous other end uses are also being explored.
Metals
Any metal studwork or nails / screws attached to the boards are separated and recycled into Roy Hatfield Ltd´s metal recycling division.
