Recycling industrial waste for over 30 years
Roy Hatfield Ltd has been creating markets for industrial waste by–products for over 30 years. We have specialised in supplying recycled waste as alternative raw materials through multiple diverse industries, thereby conserving precious natural resources. We have found success by identifying waste streams that have similar properties to virgin raw materials sourced by industry. Suitable waste streams are taken out of the landfill mechanism and processed into alternative raw materials (ARM’s) for supply back into industry. Quite often we can show the waste producer savings over the transfer station/landfill route, creating both environmental and cost benefits. Our philosophy is that almost any waste has an eco-friendly use rather than simply sending it to landfill with ever increasing costs. Through our perseverance, we have created a portfolio of tangible markets for a vast range of by-products. We are finding solutions, that through our own in-house research and development programs, are benefiting the many industries that use our services. The conversion from waste to ARM can be achieved in a number of ways: these can include both physical and chemical changes, to create a product that will be acceptable for the chosen industry. Often a secondary raw material can be more stable analytically than the natural mineral that it is to replace. This comes about by strictly monitoring the chemistry of the individual wastes before and after processing to make sure the finished product meets or betters the best attributes of the replaced virgin raw material. Therefore, the ARM is consistent, whereas naturally occurring minerals may fluctuate. With increasing landfill tax, environmental legislation and ecological pressure, industry is keen to find partners such as Roy Hatfield Ltd to develop alternative markets for their waste products. There is also a growing willingness from industry to accept ARM’s to replace virgin feed stocks. The benefits can be very attractive for participating companies as they can demonstrate that they are environmentally conscientious by saving natural resources. Equally as important, they will receive a cost effective, controlled replacement feedstock.
