Changes in Legislation Surrounding Plasterboard Disposal
From July the 16th 2005 all gypsum wastes must be disposed of in specially constructed confinement cells in landfill sites. Only a handful of landfill sites in the UK are equipped to accept gypsum/plaster waste. The disposal costs of wastes in confinement cells are high, in most cases ranging from £90 - £135 per tonne. In addition, the government has stated that landfill taxes will be increased year upon year for the foreseeable future. Recycling plasterboard provides a substantially more cost effective and environmentally acceptable route for waste plasterboard. Our system uses newly developed technology to turn unwanted plasterboard waste into a useable raw material for our own construction products as well as numerous other markets and industries. See our Plasterboard Recycling section for details When recycling offers a more cost effective route than disposal there can only be one solution for waste plasterboard...... Recycle!!
